Breaking ground in 2013
200 of the world's best and brightest students will have an incredible range of cultural and academic experiences, from travel throughout China to mentorship with global leaders and experts in their chosen disciplines.
Set at Beijing's prestigious Tsinghua University and designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, the 258,000 square-foot Schwarzman College will house one of the most advanced higher-education facilities in the world.
STUDENT RESIDENCESStudent residences are organized in groups of 8 private rooms that share a common lounge. These suites will facilitate close relationships among small groups of Scholars who will have a place away from the activity of the College's larger gathering places to socialize and work.
THE LECTURE HALLThe 230-seat auditorium is the venue for lectures and audiovisual presentations that bring together the entire Schwarzman College community. Outfitted with state-of-the-art technology, it can be configured for a variety of programs.
THE COURTYARDThe sunken courtyard will provide a central outdoor gathering place adjacent to the classrooms and the conference center. The courtyard will be wrapped by a covered terrace and pergola that recall traditional Chinese architecture.
THE FORUMLocated at the main entrance to the building, the Forum will provide a large space in which students can read, study and socialize. The room can accommodate large-scale gatherings for lively interactions with distinguished visitors.
THE LIBRARYThe library will offer study tables and a variety of comfortable seating, as well as a help desk, staffed with e-librarians. The library has windows on three sides providing views to the south, to the east, and north into the entrance courtyard.
Located in the heart of Beijing, Tsinghua University is one of the most renowned universities in China. The Stephen A. Schwarzman Scholars will live and study on Tsinghua's campus, enjoying access to the university's academic programs and cultural events.
