Obamacare. To some people, the word conjures up idyllic visions of a benevolent leader taking care of his people, personally wiping the tears from their eyes and helping them along. The Great Comrade and Beloved Ruler will take care of all of us – for free. What could be wrong with that?
The truth, however, is that Obamacare, an ill conceived, ridiculously expensive piece of legislation, will totally decimate the American economy. And there’s not much we can do to stop it – the liberal controlled government will make Obamacare a reality at any cost – even if we’re all broke. So why is this piece of legislation so bad? Here are some reasons:- Unions hate it. Not only did unions like the Teamsters campaign for Obamacare, they were a key reason why it passed in the first place. Now, they too are realizing that they were sold a bill of goods. James Hoffa, leader of the Teamsters and once an ardent Obamacare supporter, wrote that Obamacare would “shatter not only our hard-earned health benefits, but destroy the foundation of the 40 hour work week that is the backbone of the American middle class”. Pretty strong words for a supporter…
- Giant companies will have to cut back: Because more costs are passed onto the employer, many companies are looking to cut back on hiring or either lay off employees. They simply cannot afford to continue hiring employees.
- Full time labor will go the way of the dinosaur: Since full time employees are typically the ones that receive health care benefits, many employers have decided to cut back on full timers and replace them with part time staff, who aren’t eligible to receive benefits.
- You will be paying for coverage you don’t need: Consider that all plans will need to have children’s coverage, maternity care, substance abuse treatment, and a whole host of other services. What if you’re a single male? Guess what pal, your plan includes maternity services, whether you like it or not.
- It costs too much: How does $2.6 trillion over the first ten years sound to you? Does that sound like free healthcare? Not much is free or even cheap about Obamacare.
- It infringes on our liberty: Buy into Obamacare like a good comrade, or face a hefty IRS fine. Oh, by the way, the IRS, already a much beloved government agency, needs to hire 16,500 more agents just to enforce this.
- No one wants it: Current stats are 60% opposed, 27% who want it, and 3% undecided. Sixty percent opposition is some serious doubt….
Obamacare is the single biggest threat to the economy of the U.S. right now. It could easily destabilize the Dollar and take us to a place of dangerous hyper-inflation.
